The process of identifying and attracting potential customers for a business.

Full definition

Lead generation covers everything from extracting contact information of potential customers, to running ad campaigns that capture interest, to building outbound sales lists. In B2B, it usually means finding decision makers at target accounts with verified emails and phone numbers. In B2C, it means capturing email signups or other intent signals from prospects.
